Terrible service from 0330 094 5800 – please help

I’ve tried to contact Shell on 0330 094 5800 twice. Yesterday, it was a terrible line with a long pause each time I spoke, then myself and the customer service assistant would both speak together. This went on for 15 minutes then the line went dead. Issue obviously not resolved.

I decided to try again today. This time I spoke to a customer service assistant who put me on hold for 23 minutes without getting back to me, then the line went dead again.

The issue is still not resolved. PLEASE can someone at Shell help? read more

Worst company I’ve ever dealt with

Worst company I’ve ever dealt with.
Where do I start. Dd jump from £67pm to £213 pm. Can’t get through to anyone on phone. Mistakes made by phone operators or they don’t update my account and the next person has no idea I already spoke to someone
Every time I submit a reading on my day and night box shell swap them so they are wrong.
Took £400 out of my account without telling me and then when I rang they said they had no record of it. I had to get the bank to put it back in. Shell said they’d look into it and never did.
Have opened complaint case with resolver and a year later I still haven’t had an explanation or apology and they say I now owe £1700 because of a dummy meter exchange. I have no idea what that means.
Weeks ago I was supposed to be getting a form to work out my budget for replaying and I am still waiting.

Absolutely shocking

Absolutely shocking, speed is less than 1 Mbps and can’t get any TV streaming. I went for Matin Lewis offer of £50 off 12 months contract and didn’t even get that!

Awful service , had no contract with but still charged for switching supplier, they overcharged , when asked for the final bill, they passed my account to debt collectors ,paid off my bill but still no refund for the over charged amount.

Appalling

In my experience quite the worst supplier I have ever dealt with. Eight days since I disputed their requirement to lift my bills, unnecessarily, by 25% and still nothing but an automated acknowledgement. Except one other to say that they have made it a ‘complaint’, which I know, again from past experience, means that my email has now gone to the back of another queue. Emailed the MD/CEO (whatever he calls himself) but that’s been ignored too.
I’m leaving and I suggest other do too before they have a bitter experience.
If you’re not a customer, don’t become one.
There are good reasons it has the low rankings it does.
BEST AVOIDED.
Shell Energy’s reply (below) is, of course, in the usual corporate defensive mode. Just like the treatment I’ve had from Vodafone in the recent past, Becca says “I hope I can provide some assistance” and then provides none! What she does is seek to justify the company’s procedures. They don’t need explaining to me; I’m only too well aware of the procedures!
What I want, and what I suspect most other CUSTOMERS want, is for Shell to employ sufficient numbers so that I can get some human intervention in a timely fashion. Not be directed to their web site. There is not an app or a program designed that can answer all the questions a customer might have. For me, timely means next day at worst – not two weeks if you’re lucky. Terrible customer service

First they removed the night meter reading from our account so not able to log usage. Then it took 2 months to “sort” only to discover they had put us on different tarrif with same day/night charge. Now they don’t appear to understand what we are telling them and cannot sort it out.

They don’t communicate, and they just charge what they want, tried leaving them so they put the bill up, rip offs dont go with shell energy worst company ever!

Rubbish customer service

Rubbish customer service. Just spent half hour waiting to speak to someone about confusing emails re tariff, then after two minutes I was cut off!!!

Horrendous company. AVOID!

I would give 0 stars if I could. Was with first utility which was fine then Shell bought it. It came up to my renewal date with only a marginal increase in cost so I renewed. A month or so later they said my bill was going up for £57 to £83! Why wasn’t it mentioned when I was at renewal stage that I was in arrears?! They tricked me into renewing and tried to increase my bill. Now I’m leaving I have to pay £60 to leave as well as my the other money owed. Outrageous. 3 months to close an account!

Closed my mum’s account as she has sold her house and moved into a residential care home.

Despite being almost £400 in credit they continue to take her monthly direct debit from her bank account and according to the website it will take 12 weeks (3 months!) for the refund.

Appalling service!

Never been with this company

Never been with this company, never even heard of them really.
Was with First Utility and they mucked me around for about 1 yr and charged me double what i should have paid, got it all sorted out and they had the cheek to ask me to continue with they.End of story..NO
Some 2 years later , i get call from Shell Energy saying i owe them £87 as they took over F Utility and got outstanding debt, rubbish, got harrassed, blocked there number, but phoned on others for the past 4 to 6 months.
Threatened them with a injunction as am 65 and stressing me to the max.
I owe nothing , especially to them as i have no contract or deallings with them and settled with F/U WHO NEVER CONTACTED ME IN THE 2 YRS PRIOR TO THIS.
Aggressive bullies, should be ashamed of you selves attacking vulnerable people for il gotten gains. read more

I was with the previous company before Shell took them over and had no problems with them, as soon as shell took over its been nothing but problems, for no reason my bill went from £ 75 to £92 and then 3 months later £102, i asked them to change my tariff to a cheaper one (£85) which all went through and i received confrontation. I checked the small print and there was 0 charge for changing tarriffs.
I got my bill today, not only has my bill stayed at £102 but theyve also charged me £100 for unknown “other charges and tarriff” upon looking at my bill the price p/kwh had DOUBLED in one month this has put me over £220 in arrears. And they do not want to help and say its what i owe so it must be paid even though they themselves dont know what the extra £100 charges are. It seems they are taking advantage of people being in lockdown and hiking there prices up

Coronavirus: UK energy firms still using debt collectors despite pandemic

Energy suppliers in the UK have continued to use debt collectors, even after they agreed with the government to support customers in financial distress during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the Guardian, customers have been targeted by debt collectors and warned that action may be taken against them if they don’t pay their bills.

In one letter, Shell Energy warned a customer that arrangements could be made for a collection agent to visit their home to recoup an outstanding balance of £78.51 ($97.58). read more

IGNORANT, INCOMPETENT ORGANISATION. If I could award this disgusting company -5 stars then I would. I spoke with a senior manager a few weeks ago to request a payment holiday given the current situation. He agreed stating no problem at all and and suggested an 8 week payment holiday and if I require a longer period then simply contact them again in eight weeks. He also reassured me that no payment letters would be sent over this period and that my account was on hold. So disgusted with this company I live…

So disgusted with this company I live alone am nearly 80 and in the winter only had my heating on for 6 hours
A day wrapped in a blanket when heating was off and went to bed early 8pm to keep warm, only had radiators
On in the rooms I use, now they are telling me they want to increase my monthly payments for gas and electricity from £83 a month to £100 a month starting 3 months before my renewal is due saying I’m £57 in debit. Have made a complaint as I am nearly 80 and can not afford the extra. Spoke on web chat said they would pass it on to complaints. Now waiting for a response. Did have a problem with smart meter took 4 months to send an engineer who told me the new one he was putting in would make no difference as they don’t use the newer update one that any energy supplier can use. Am now trying to find another supplier
With more consideration for their customers in my position. I feel all they want is to get more money from their users. I am getting I touch with my bank to stop them taking an extra £17 a month from me before my complaint has been dealt with. I can see other users have lots of problems by their reviews I have reviewed before on trustpilot and gues what I got an immediate call from them. Please keep sending in your reviews they need to be named and shamed.

There is nothing positive about this company. They are a disgusting company and utterly useless in every sense. They try to tell me I owe them almost £2,000 because their systems are so awful its systems override meter readings, they end up refunding me over, £1,100 and are now illegally blocking me from moving supplier.. They have deliberately added the same balance back on my account which suspiciously was immediately after I said I was leaving… They are completely inept and underhanded. Thugs & bully boys

Thugs & bully boys, will not use them again ever. I signed up to first utility and a week later it was taken over by shell energy! they then wanted to up my monthly direct debit, I said no !!! I said my monthly DD was based on my previous usage and if I owed any money at the end of my contract with them I would pay them.
I have now switched to another energy supplier, and shell have been slow in producing my last couple of bills without an explanation and saying i owe them £76, I owe them about £76 and it said on my statement I have till 7th of April to pay, I have asked them for clarity and have received a reply. My main disgust with the company is the amount of e-mails and text messages, basically threatening if the account is not settled, and threatening ,please see extract ” Your account is now due to be passed to a debt collection company, this could incur extra charges and may end in a default being registered against your credit file” I at first thought it was an April fool prank, as I said the debt is only payable on 7th April, so they can wait! I could understand all of these tactics if it were a debt on £000s but £76, get a life shell energy.
Reply shows it all-I was only with 1st utility about a month”so how would you know what I had used in the previous year”So how could you have current accurate usage.
I have smart meters so once the final reading is made it can easily be worked out well before, instead of sending a bill for 3 months without full information.
E-mail sent in March, still not had the information from Shell energy :-
“No need for threatening emails in the current climate.
When I have worked out your bill, I will pay you, not before.
You can help by sending my gas meter reading at the start of my contract with First utility, and my end reading, in KWh not M³.
That way I can verify my gas account, I have already verified my electricity account, which is correct.”

Unbeleivably bad company

Unbeleivable company. UK sees worst crisis since ww2 with covd 19 and shell send bill demand when bill is two days late. Then customers services are as rude as possible. Will change provider. Disgusted. Every other company right now is relaxed about payment due to the crisis. Shell has 0 compassion.

It’s very bad experience with shell Energy broadband service. Please don’t go for it. I’m sharing my experience,

Summary:
– I requested to disconnect my Shell broadband connection as I’m moving out house for work.
– Later, I cancelled move out plan as per my company instruction and informed broadband team to cancel my request (broadband cancellation request) before 3 days.
– Team didn’t read my mail and I was trying to reach customer care and failed due to long queue.
– Team disconnected my internet connection.
– Now, I’m facing lot of challenges from my company and spouse company as
we don’t have internet to connect from home for work.
– As per Shell broadband team, it will take 14 days to restore and it will be new connection and it will be new contract.
– I’m not happy the way, team is handling issue. Just sharing my experience as it may be useful for others. read more
