Thugs & bully boys

Thugs & bully boys, will not use them again ever. I signed up to first utility and a week later it was taken over by shell energy! they then wanted to up my monthly direct debit, I said no !!! I said my monthly DD was based on my previous usage and if I owed any money at the end of my contract with them I would pay them.
I have now switched to another energy supplier, and shell have been slow in producing my last couple of bills without an explanation and saying i owe them £76, I owe them about £76 and it said on my statement I have till 7th of April to pay, I have asked them for clarity and have received a reply. My main disgust with the company is the amount of e-mails and text messages, basically threatening if the account is not settled, and threatening ,please see extract ” Your account is now due to be passed to a debt collection company, this could incur extra charges and may end in a default being registered against your credit file” I at first thought it was an April fool prank, as I said the debt is only payable on 7th April, so they can wait! I could understand all of these tactics if it were a debt on £000s but £76, get a life shell energy.
Reply shows it all-I was only with 1st utility about a month”so how would you know what I had used in the previous year”So how could you have current accurate usage.
I have smart meters so once the final reading is made it can easily be worked out well before, instead of sending a bill for 3 months without full information.
E-mail sent in March, still not had the information from Shell energy :-
“No need for threatening emails in the current climate.
When I have worked out your bill, I will pay you, not before.
You can help by sending my gas meter reading at the start of my contract with First utility, and my end reading, in KWh not M³.
That way I can verify my gas account, I have already verified my electricity account, which is correct.”

Completely useless

Completely useless
Tried to change my broadband to them and they claimed Virgin would not release my number. Rang Virgin and they confirmed they had not asked. Helpline took ages , were of no help , couldn’t sort the issue , didn’t reply when they said they would and didn’t return a call when they said they would.

They need to stick to what they know i.e. selling petrol.

Bunch of clowns

Completely out of the blue I received a letter from Shell demanding immediate payment of £514.40. If I failed to act they would send the baliffs round. I’ve been a customer of OVO for the last 8 years and I’VE NEVER BEEN A CUSTOMER OF SHELL ENERGY. read more

First utility/Shell energy have worst business practises

I don’t have an account with Shell Energy, I didn’t even have an account with first utility. But because I lived in a property that the previous tenant had a contract on and I called first utility to tell them that the person they are after is no longer in the property, Apparently that means I want the account? they opened an account in my name without my permission. When I moved into the property this relates to I was told it had no gas supplier so I opened an account with southern electric. I haven’t lived in this property in question since 2014/2015 and now Shell energy claim I still live in the property when though I’ve provided proof that I don’t and this is affecting my credit rating because you say I owe £3000+ and you won’t even reduce the amount to the time frame of when I was in the property! For me to get this sorted between you and southern electric! I’m so upset because this is ruining my chances of buying a house! read more

Firstly I repeat and cannot overstate that your company is undoubtedly the most incompetent, bullying and disgusting organisation it has ever been my misfortune to deal with.

Following the Ombudsman’s decision on February 24th and your letter of the same date, I have been expecting a final itemised invoice within the ten days as promised.

However, today THREE letters have been received as follows:

1/ The first letter dated March 1st states that you have tried to contact me on several occasions, which is a deliberate lie. The letter then threatens collection and recovery action from yourselves. read more

Bad customer service, no answered phone calls, 1 hour wait, and no dedicated call centre. Rubbish Rubbish Rubbish

AVOID – ITS A TRAP – DON’T DISMISS A BAD REVIEW

Where do I even start. When you first get your tariff agreed by these sales reps, (who know how to pressure you) they will not tell you how variable it is. I was told I would pay £72 a month like I did at Scottish Power, and it was assumed I would pay around £864, (also written on when I was first sold this.) Of course I bought into this, and trusted this company, because for the previous 5 years, this is exactly what I paid with Scottish Power, (and left with credit!) Oh no, 5 months in with Shell, and I’ve already paid over £600!!!!! They claim they do tariff/ rate reviews, but this is only offered yearly. By that time, how much more would I have paid out?? Absolute disgrace of a company. read more

Terrible Customer Service

My problem is still unresolved takes an hour to get through , someone supposed to be looking into how my 5 yr contract was sold that was nearly 4 wks ago, nobody can give me a final settlement to allow me to leave , promised a call back last week and an e mail , neither have happened, I’m going to report to trading standards as they have me on a high tariff whilst waiting for them to respond which they never do. Hello Mr XXXX

Ombudsman Final Decision dated 24 February 2020

We’ve set out below the list of remedies set by the Ombudsman and the status of each. If there’s any outstanding matters left to address. I’ve confirmed when you’ll expect your next update and/or resolution.

The Ombudsman decided that Shell Energy should:

  • Provide you with a goodwill payment of £200 in recognition of the shortfalls in service you have experienced this will be credited to the account within 10 working days.
  • Credit your account with £820.79 in recognition of overcharging you for 4399kWh of electricity rather than re-billing your account and re-applying SLC 21BA as proposed by Shell Energy. This has been completed by correcting the inial read on the account 61750.
  • The remaining balance on the account after the £200 gesture of goodwill has been applied will be £1199.50

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the issues raised and the inconvenience it has caused. It is important to us that we provide a consistent and accurate service and to do this we continue to provide visibility and feedback to other departments regarding matters such as yours. read more

Worst company!

This company is employees liars and greedy people. They lie to get commission and trick people into going for expensive tariff.
SAVE your TIME and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
They do not care about the elderly, the single parents or any vulnerable customers.
Speaking to them on the phone is a nightmare.
Nothing they say is consistent across the business. It’s actually RIDICULOUS! These guys will go bust and crumble very soon.
They work with ACN who lie elderly to joining them in the most EXPENSIVE TARIFF and also tariff that have and home bundle are SCAM! They claim you get a free goody but if you look at your tariff rate. ITS RIDICULOUSLY HIGH! You pay for the item via Standing charges and unit rates. GREEDY! read more

Customer service is terrible been trying 2 phone 4 ages.and kept on hold usually for 30 to 40 minutes. And end up having to hang up. glad my contact is nearing end .coz I will b leaving them.

shocking service I am currently Shell Energy customer (won’t be long before I switch) I have find out that our gas bill is 3 times higher than what it should be, queried this in July last year and still waiting to resolve this issue.

I would give this company zero stars if i could.

I would give this company zero stars if i could. This company has hiked up my payments. They were great when they were First Utility. Even their cheapest offering is useless. My marketing preferences are by email but they keep trying to phone & message me. I complained to them by email & they agreed that they should contact me by email only, yet they carried on contacting me by phone even though i told them that i’m profoundly deaf. They passed all my details on to SMS even though i asked them not to. SMS have been hounding me stating that ”Shell Energy are upgrading to the next generation of meters & have arranged SMS to complete your installation”. How on earth can Shell Energy arrange for a meter to be fitted without consulting me? I have blocked all their calls. Shell are using bully boy tactics. I’m now moving to Octopus. Shell could not come anywhere near the prices that Octopus have offered me. Shell & SMS should hang their heads in shame for using bully boy tactics. My data is being shared even though i asked it not to be. They are also STILL trying to contact me by phone calls & text messages even though my marketing preferences are email. read more

Truely awful, avoid at all cost

Truely awful. Takes very long to answer phones every time, no matter what day of week. I bought a house and received estimated bills. When I tried to update the reading, it keeps saying on the system it’s invalid. But they wouldn’t listen that I haven’t moved in yet. And of course I keep getting estimated bills which are way higher than they should be. read more

Awful company

Awful company, thank god i wasn’t a signed up member!
Moved into a property supplied by Shell Energy, switched straight away, took meter reading and supplied to them on the 1st day.
Then they start sending text messages to say to call a number to pay, search of the number online shows it as a scamming number rated as ‘Dangerous’ on ‘Who Called Me’.
When you call the number they want all your personal details and bank details without even confirming anything to prove who they are and they know who is calling them, they ended up hanging up on me when I asked them to confirm some of my details even just my door number.
Go to the website, its just as bad trying to get some contact details, eventually had to fill out a form as even the online chat isn’t a chat, its automated.
Eventually get an email from them confirming the details, and I pay and send them confirmation via email, then I continue to get threatening messages about outstanding payment and debt collectors.
Awful company, I’m guessing staff members have increased their ratings on here, have a look at their ratings on some other sites. read more

I too was a customer of First Utility(continued)…

I too was a customer of First Utility and was very satisfied with them. I was not told that Shell were taking over but things continued in the same satisfactory fashion. Now with the tariff expiring I find that they are impossible to communicate with in any shape or form. My only hope is that they see this complaint and finally answer my email. read more

JUST HAD A BILL FROM THESE SCUM ASKING FOR £196.00 GOING BACK TO JULY 2019, WHEN I JOINED FIRST UTILITY IN NOVEMBER 2017 NO CHARGES FOR KWH GAS AND ELECTRICITY WERE GIVEN, NO CHARGE FOR DAILY SUPPLY OF GAS AND ELECTRICITY AND NO CONVERSION FORMULA FOR CHANGING CUBIC METRES (GAS) INTO KWH, SUPPOSEDLY I WAS ON A FIXED TARIFF HAVING SUPPLIED 52 WEEKS WORTH OF METER READINGS PRIOR TO THE AGREEMENT BEING PUT IN PLACE, BY JANUARY 2018 THESE FILTHY PARASITES WERE ASKING FOR MORE MONEY, I WAS SUPPOSEDLY USING MORE GAS AND ELECTRICITY, HOW DID THEY WORK THAT OUT IN TWO WINTER MONTHS WHEN I SUPPLIED THEM WITH THE PREVIOUS 12 MONTHS OR 365 DAYS WORTH OF ACTUAL CONSUMPTION FIGURES.
THESE WASTERS ARE A BUNCH OF CON ARTISTS WHO MAKE YOUR AVERAGE LOAN SHARK SEEM ETHICAL, WHEN I WENT TO THE OMBUDSMAN (FIRST TIME) I WAS TOLD ON THE BASIS OF WHAT THEY CHARGED FOR THEIR ENERGY SUPPLY I OWED THEM WHAT THEY WERE ASKING FOR, THE CITIZENS ADVICE SPOKE TO ONE OF THE REDACTED WHO JOKINGLY REFER TO THEMSELVES AS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND VERIFIED THE FIGURES BUT THEY ALSO SAID THAT IN ORDER TO PAY FOR THE CHARGES A DIRECT DEBIT OF BETWEEN £112.00 TO £120.00 WAS NEEDED, FU WHO WERE SUPPLIED BY ENERGY BY SHELL AND WHO WERE IN THE PROCESS OF BEING TAKEN OVER BY SHELL PUT A DD IN PLACE FOR £76. 00 WHICH DELIBERATELY SET OUT TO PUT ME IN DEBT AND TIE ME INTO THEIR “FIXED TARIFF” UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2020 HAD I NOT GOT OUT EARLIER.
THE (REDACTED) AT FU SOON TO BECOME SHELL EARNED THEIR BANANAS BY TELLING ME THEY HAD NEVER RECEIVED ANY FIGURES FOR GAS AND ELECTRICITY AND WOULD HAVE CHARGED ME MORE IF THEY HAD, THEY PUT A FIXED TARIFF IN PLACE WHICH WAS UNDER VALUED AND WOULD RESULT IN MORE MONEY BEING DEMANDED SO HOW WAS I EVER ON ANY KIND OF FIXED TARIFF, THESE GARBAGE MERCHANTS STILL WANTED THEIR £30.00 GAS AND ELECTRICITY EXIT FEES HOWEVER FOLLOWED BY THE USUAL THREATS.
TELL ME YOU FILTHY PACK OF MAGGOTS HOW IS THAT A BUNCH OF LYING CONNIVING THREE FACED BLOODSUCKING PARASITES SUCH AS SHELL ENERGY ARE SO GOOD AT QUOTING LEGAL REDRESS AGAINST CUSTOMERS WHILE GOING OUT OF YOUR WAY TO MIS-SELL, LIE, CHEAT AND STEAL AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY.
I HAVE TAKEN THEIR FIGURES FOR KWH AND DAILY STANDING CHARGES AND THEIR CONVERSION FACTOR AND GONE BACK TO NOVEMBER 2017 THROUGH TO JULY 2019, USING THE RECORDED METER READINGS FOR THIS SAME PERIOD I HAVE CALCULATED THAT THEY OWE ME £350.00 FROM OVER PAYMENT AND MY LOCAL CAB HAVE CONFIRMED THE ACCURACY OF THESE FIGURES, THIS £196.00 WAS OKAYED BY MY SECOND COMPLAINT TO THE OMBUDSMAN WHO SHOULD PERHAPS BE REMINDED OF THE ADAGE, LIES, DAMNED LIES AND STATISTICS, NOW YOU CAN ADD IN SHELL ENERGY ACCOUNTING AS THE FOURTH EXAMPLE OF LIES BEING PASSED OFF AS TRUTH.
HAVE WRITTEN TO OFGEM WHO WERE NO USE WHATSOEVER AS IS THE CASE WITH MOST QUANGOS AND HAVE WRITTEN TO MY MP FOR THE SECOND TIME, WHERE SHELL ENERGY ARE CONCERNED THEY SHOULD BE LOOKED ON IN THE SAME WAY AS THE CORONA VIRUS, THE CONTAGION STARTS WITH A FEW CASES AND THEN SPREADS, SHELL ENERGY ARE THE MOST EVIL BUNCH OF FAECES THAT HAS EVER PASSED ITSELF OFF AS AN ENERGY SUPPLIER.

Avoid .. awful

I have tried three times to talk to someone about my account today, and the only loop I end up in is your telephone loop. I have asked to be passed to a supervisor/manager, and both Kyle and Shahid on separate calls put me back into your telephone loop, which is never answered. I have emailed customer services and not yet been contacted back. Their chat line is automated, or seems to be, and I am completely unable to chat to anyone who can help me. Their service levels are appalling. read more

Their mistakes ruin your credit rating.

Let’s start with the easy bits, if you need to speak to someone, take a seat with a nice drink because your in for a 30 minute wait. I have had to call this company a few times recently and each time has been the same wait. But this company can top that. So on the 24th january my bill was due, however being a empty property new tenants took over on the 23rd january. So I called shell on the 24th informed them of these changes and they informed me they would raise a final bill and to pay that. Fast forward to today the 1st January, I recieved a debt collector letter in regards to the bill due 24th january for the grand total of £32.13. I also recieved a letter from shell which was my final bill showing the previous amount minus a credit. So in short and this was confirmed by their own customer service that on the 25th january they sent my account to a debt collector a day after I had called them for a final bill. Literally a joke of a company, had this actually been my real name on the account this would have impacted my credit rating. Completely incompetent company. Stay clear you have been warned. read more

Can’t get an email response

Can’t get an email response. The automated chat was useless. Calling a waste of time as still could not speak to an agent. Was then directed to live chat only to find I was number 25 in the queue. What waste of an hour. read more
