DO NOT USE SHELL. We have had the worst internet connection for months now and have even had to upgrade our phone contracts just to get online. We have contacted shell several times, who have done absolutely nothing to resolve the issue. They are now trying to charge us 273 as an early termination charge which I refuse to pay as I will not pay for a product that DOES NOT WORK!! LEAVE ME ALONE SHELL!! Abysmal service

Abysmal service. Cannot get through to speak to someone who can actually assist. Biggest regret switching to Shell broadband. They do not care about the customer at all! Broadband was supposed to go live 08 August. Eventually sorted 12th August. Received a bill for more than what was quoted even though I had no service initially. Not a happy customer. Can somebody at Shell broadband please actually help?? read more

Not the same since they took over from the Post Office broadband, slow internet speeds and they even charged me for when engineer came to fix a problem and he never came into my house ! Worst decision ever to go with Shell energy broadband!

More stress and hassle from Shell

Following my previous complaint to Shell and paying 2 months balance which is the amount owed I get an email saying they are looking into my complaint. Still no reply and now a threatening letter saying they will cut off my internet. I made a call out request as Openreach left me and other properties without internet/phone for a week so still want a call out charge! And also charging me for a router as not returned even though I have a receipt of posting. I suppose they will say its an automated letter, WELL NO, ITS TOTAL INCOMPETENCE AS USUAL.
The phone lines are operated by computers so are a waste of time and after over half an hour on the phone last time I was given wrong information that contradicted what another person had said. And to top it all the braodband speed is well below what they promised. read more

Shell: putting vulnerable customers at risk

My father is a Shell customer, as they took over his landline contract from The Post Office. He is 73 and classed as a vulnerable customer – wheelchair bound, with terminal cancer, currently undergoing immunotherapy. On June 21st, I contacted Shell to say his phone wasn’t working. They marked him as a welfare case and said the fault would be fixed within 24 hours. It was not. We contacted them again, they contacted us, and so it went on, but the upshot is that, on June 30th, a ‘priority case’ has been without a working phone for 10 days! My brother had to move in to ensure Dad was okay and still no-one will assume responsibility; Openreach say it’s fixed. Shell say they will contact Openreach again, but no one will actually go to the house and check until Monday – that’s 14 days for a welfare case!
We pay the bill; is it too much to expect a multi-million pound company to help a vulnerable customer? Disgusting. read more

Avoid at all costs

I didn’t ask to be a Shell Broadband customer. I signed up for Post Office broadband, but Shell bought them out and existing PO Broadband customers were forced to migrate to Shell or pay an early termination penalty.  Shell customer service is hopeless, you waste huge amounts of time on the phone trying to contact these people, the broadband speed is glacially slow (and my broadband was meant to be fast but it was hopeless).  I’ve just got rid of them and had to pay £157 for the privilege. Don’t even think about becoming a Shell Broadband customer, it’s not worth the time, money and stress. It’s a rip off. read more

Another fine mess by Shell.

Just had my first bill after changing to fibre broadband and it should have been £32.88 per month. I didn’t get a first bill and was told I was in credit from paying in advance for my original broadband package of 2mbps with Post Office when it was migrated.
So no get billed is £196.54!!!! I ring and spend over half hour talking first to a computer then to Nazeem who says I had a call out charge added. I said yes as Openreach left cables to 5 houses disconnected after moving a telegraph pole. I was asked again if I requested a call out, well obviously as I had no phone/internet! Nazem contradicts a previous message that said if the engineer is called out for any reason there is a charge! Shell already paid me a weeks compensation for loss of service and yet I am still billed. Also no mention of how much I was in credit from my pre-change-over contract. Its like Fred Carnos Circus run by people with no idea on how to treat customers. As someone else said, another Talk Talk type company. Avoid at any price! read more

Beware this company

Beware this company is sending out demands for monthly payments in my case over 500% above what I am actually using. Have complained to them and the answer is the computer does the calculations !. At first level by phone employee looked at my account and agreed demands were excessive. When complaint escalated is when informed they go by computer calculations and sent deadlock letter with an offer of £50 to close complaint !. Will have to see now what the ombudsman says. read more

Time wasters

Half an hour to pickup a call, even worse to answer a chat and then agent put the phone down on you. The staff in customer service is rude and incompetent. It is appalling that this company does not value the time of its customers and operates by such low standards. This is not what you expect from a global brand like Shell. What a shame. Pathetic

Pathetic, incompetent, ignorant useless company. You thought Post Office Broadband was bad? Shell are even worse. Should not be allowed to operate in the UK, they’re on the level of a backstreet spiv. Avoid.

I was moved over to Shell when my last…

I was moved over to Shell when my last energy company went out of business. I then had to wait for a couple of months until they got around to talking to me. I then had both Electric and Gas pre-payment meters fitted. I got my electric card within 2 days but, after 5 months, I am still waiting for my gas card. My smart meter does not work and they are demanding that I pay them an estimated bill of £290.00. I have spoken to them and explained that I cannot possibly owe anything like the amount they are demanding and I also asked why my Gas card had not been sent to me. However, they are not interested in the mistake they have made, they are only interested in forcing me to pay £290.00 which they know is simply extortionate. This is a prime example of how Shell energy is extorting money from vulnerable and elderly customers. Is it any wonder how their FAT CAT GREEDY owners and management are able to share billions in profit while ordinary folk has to choose between food and heating? Well what a company hours to get through left without broadband then the rudest of customer services I’ve ever had, they dod not care that I had lost money through lack of supply and just fobbed us off. Never again will we have any dealings with shell energy or any of there products. Awful, you can’t get through to any help, over 40 minutes wait, then when you explain your problem they put you on hold again, don’t come back and the phone goes dead. This has happened three times.

Worst company I’ve ever had to deal with.

Am 5 days into contract with this sub standard company and have had no Internet access. After 5 days of being messed around they now tell me it could take another 5 days for engineers to sort things out. Tried to cancel my contract with them but they will not do this without me incurring charges for a service they have failed to provide. WiFi doesn’t work. Getting support is impossible!

I had Shell Energy broadband installed yesterday after waiting a week for an engineer. The internet connectivity seems ok, but the WiFi won’t switch on. Connecting with the support last night on webchat was painful. It took 2 hours to get to an agent, who then brushed me off with *switch on your WiFi” and “have you tried your username and password?” Before dropping the call. DREADFUL company, apparently switched by Uswitch, loads of agro as when I moved to my new property there was no landline & cottage needed rewire & refurb. This meant that shell could not & did not supply any service. Since then Ive been hounded for connection fees. Now with the Ombudsman. In my opinion this company is beyond belief in their lack of customer service. Advice dont touch. read more

Absolute hell to get in touch with

Absolute hell to get in touch with. Virtual Assistant is a waste of time and energy. I am already sorry I transfered to them. When I finally got through the lady was very pleasant and helpful.

Not trueful

I have just changed to Shell through one of their agents who came to my house to discuss terms and conditions. The agent was very polite and pleasant and felt he was treating me fairly. He offered me £50 credit on my bill as a referral from my son, who has also just joined Shell, and £50 to my son. He also said my first payment would be one month after joining Shell. Both offers are untrue. When calling Shell they informed me no such offer should be made. I have made a complaint of mis-selling and awaiting the result. I thought this practice had disappeared, but it appears I’m wrong. read more

I feel very ripped off since shell took…

I feel very ripped off since shell took over first utility,  Would not recommend to anyone, Fixed tariffs! very high standard charges, Happy now my contract has come to an end, And forget there broadband.

Broadband not adequate

Needed faster broadband than sky. Shell informed me I wouldn’t need any boosters and would suit my needs after telling them exactly how many devices, TVs, phones we are using, plus I work at home in the day. The speed was actually less than my old provider. The buffering is awful amd speed too slow. I rang the same day it went live to cancel under the cooling off period. Apparently I am out of my cooling off period as the 14 days started from when I ordered from them. It took them 16 days to install it. How do I know if it’s right for me? I complained and was on the phone for 3 hours, was cut off twice and at the end of the 3 hours, had not resolved anything. The terms and conditions and cooling off period was provided on a link on an email which is not a durable medium.
I feel it was mid sold to me. I’m now having to fight my case plus wait for a better broadband provider until 12 Oct. so inconvenient and so misleading. I will not use them again for anything or recommend.
They need to use their discretion more read more
