I have had terrible Wi-Fi, it’s been virtually unusable

In all my years using broadband, this has been by far the worst Broadband I have ever, ever experienced. It has been impossible to stream the most basic movie on an iPad. Even the online newspaper stops and if you buy this. Get used to the swirly circle, as it’s all you ever see. Shockingly bad. Wi-Fi is virtually none existent. I’ll be amazed if I can send this review without it stopping and losing all the data.

Broadband that never materialised

Broadband that never materialised! Terrible customer service. Transfered from department to department. Each tech support blaming the other. Eventually blaming a fault on the line which mysteriously appeared when Shell took over!? THERE IS NO FAULT ON MY LINE. Oh and now illegally trying to charge me over £300 for cancelling early even though I’m still in the 14 day cooling off period!? Disgusting.

Absolute bunch of liars

I have been with this company twice in recent years and have found them wanting on both occasions. They have held on to my money that was in credit, lied to me on numerous occasions that it had been paid out, even told me a cheque had been issued but still no refund. Lied to me that I had accessed my account when it was them. I still do not have resolution after 5 months. They have refused to log a complaint until last month and have had nothing but what can be described as abuse. It will be a good day when this business is sold. read more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I would strongly advise you to steer clear of Shell Energy. We have been unable to use wifi for two months and I call about twice a week to follow up on my litany of complaints only to be told there is no issue.

They refuse to let you talk to the complaints department and after a month of numerous phone calls they finally promised to send out an engineer. My two housemates and I waited at home for two days and no engineer arrived. We are being charged each month for a service they do not provide.

Terrible broadband customer service

Terrible broadband customer service. They have zero flexibility and no intention to please customers. Seems like a good deal at first, but they won’t offer end-of-contract deals. Shell also increases prices in the middle of the contract. Went from paying £17 to £30 per month. Avoid at all costs. Believe me, you will end up paying more than what is shown on the price comparison sites.

Worst company with utterly ridiculous customer service

After breaking so many promises, FINALLY shell energy manage to connect my broad band on 20/07/2023. The Original date was 04/07/2023. In between this period not a single day Shell rang me and gave me any update. I made phone calls so many times to get the update. They always replied some one from complain handling team will contact with me and that never happened. Even after this review you may find a Reply from Shell that they are sorry for my experience and always strive to provide legendary customer service. It is a joke, they are legend to provide worst customer service and they are unbeatable. The internet speed is very poor and i barely get any signal in my living room. Than you for taking time to read my review it will save you from a Fraud company like Shell. I have couple of thousands of earning and other loses after switching to them and mental stress is endless. Please ask your friends and family not to take their service. read more

Ever since I moved to shell energy the wifi keeps dropping out and line speeds are super slow, no where near the fibre I am paying for. Two openreach engineers have visited, the last one saying they cannot find a fault in the line and the issue must be the router, since shell rent the line from talk talk. Shell initially refused to send me a new router but after contacting them again they agreed. Now waiting for new router to see if it fixes the intermittent and very slow broadband. read more

Possibly the Worst Broadband Service Ever

I cannot find words to describe how utterly crap Shell Broadband is. In all my years I have never experienced such an appalling service. Every evening it would vanish at midnight when I needed to work. Why? No other provider does this. Constantly dropping out, it is an unreservedly derisory service. If it’s not enough to be screwing the planet and raking in vast profits in a cost-of-living crisis (oh and also still trading gas with Russia), they can’t even operate a half descent broadband service. Many phone calls where they had told me I hadn’t returned the router (I had) and several final bills which included charge for non return of router. I asked several times for correct bill and they eventually without warning referred me to collections agency. Failed broadband activation- Third complaint

Activation date 27th June – No broadband. No updates, apologies from Shell, no emails, no notifications. I complained on this forum yesterday and requested to speak to a manager. I was told by Sara I would receive a call from the team as soon as possible. Sat in all day yesterday and of course received no calls whatsoever…

I’ve now had to resort to contacting Openreach for updates…

Was clear a problem with router, asked to send a new router to sort the problem instead they said a booster would be a better option. 8 days until receive the booster that still not sorted my problem. Utter nonsense. I was tempted in by low prices, but dont be fooled, those prices will be jacked up within a month or two. In combination with a truly terrible intenet service, was promised 70mbps downloads in truth its about 4 or 5mbps, which is a tiny fraction of advertised, and a wifi signal that drops out hourly for random amounts of time, it really is an utter waste of money. was previously with sky at same address, never had these issues. read more

I foolishly moved to Shell for my Broadband because they were the cheapest, big mistake. The last 2 days my download speed has been 0.5. Constantly buffering and saying Something went wrong! It is Fast BB but we recently had fibre cables laid. I spoke to 2 customer service chaps who said they weren’t able to offer fibre yet. Querying my speed the maximum is 1.2 which according to Shell is sufficient for my needs as I am a low user!!! Websites take forever to load. As I am out of Contract, I am jumping ship and getting Fibre from another Company. read more

Company came to install fiber broadband on the 18th of May, broadband, worked for a few hours. I have been trying to get something done about it several times, if your lucky to get through your told something different each time. It’s the 5th of June now and still nothing, no reply to emails. Apsolutle rubbish, don’t ever use them.

Avoid like the plague

I recommend Shell Energy change their name to Hell Energy. My broadband has been down for two weeks and every person I have spoke with has been extremely unhelpful. I’ve been on the phone to Shell nearly every day trying to sort the issue out. First we were told that the issue is with the micro filter cable and were advised to buy a new one. Absolutely diabolical. Never have I ever had such hassle setting up a service. Shell are undoubtedly the worst Broadband provider the planet has to offer.

The router arrived over a week late, The service which I was informed was live didnt even work when the router did arrive. Upon trying to close my contract before the first bill even came through, they’re attempting to charge me the closing fee of £308 despite the fact that I havent even been able to use the service through no fault of my own. If I could give their customer service a negative rating a would.

As a previous post office customer, I decided to upgrade to a full fiber package in early January 2023- I was repeatedly given different installation dates. Finally on the 21 March I was given a confirmed date for the Openreach engineer to arrive. Suffice to say nobody arrived on the agreed date. Subsequently 2 more engineer visits resulted in a line being installed-but still no internet service. As of the 24th of April(more than 3 months) they managed to achieve nothing. read more
