Shell’s appetite for espionage against John Donovan

Shell’s appetite for espionage against me knows no bounds, spanning a global spying operation that would make James Bond blush.

By Shell critic John Donovan

Step into the twisted world of Shell corporate malevolence, where no tactic is too underhanded. As Hugh Grant fights his legal battles, it triggers haunting memories of my own relentless crusade against the oil behemoth in the ’90s and its ruthless response.

I proudly wear the badge of Shell’s arch-nemesis, earned through sheer persistence in exposing their dark deeds. Brace yourself for a wild ride that spans three decades, where I confronted a seemingly invincible Goliath with bottomless pockets. Little did I know then that Shell would unleash a storm of threats and employ the covert arts, utilizing undercover agents like a devious spy network. An oily SPECTRE. read more

Nigeria: New government must ensure Shell’s sale of its Niger Delta oil business does not worsen human rights abuses

By Amnesty International: 26 May 2023

Nigeria’s new government, which will be sworn in on 29 May, must ensure that Shell’s planned sale of its operations in the Niger Delta does not lead to a further deterioration in human rights in a region blighted by decades of oil pollution.

Amnesty International has documented grievous and enduring human rights abuses resulting from oil contamination in the area, where Shell has operated since the 1950s. Amnesty International is concerned that the proposed sale will deny people already harmed access to adequate remedy, and potentially expose many more to future abuses.

A new report issued today, Tainted Sale?, recommends a series of safeguards and actions to help protect the rights of people potentially affected by Shell’s planned disposal of its onshore oil interests in the Niger Delta, reportedly for about US$3 billion. read more

Shell’s industrial monstrosity In Pennsylvania spewing out a cocktail of toxic fumes

…this operation spews out a delightful cocktail of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the atmosphere, including lovely chemicals like benzene, toluene, and naphthalene. Who wouldn’t want to breathe in those toxic fumes?

Posted by John Donovan 26 May 2023

Shell, the generous and environmentally conscious oil giant, finally faces some consequences after months of residents tirelessly raising concerns.

Pennsylvania has finally taken action and “cracked” down on the Shell plant, which has been causing havoc with its operations. In an act of goodwill, Shell has agreed to pay a measly $10 million to Pennsylvania for exceeding emissions limits during the plant’s troublesome launch. How thoughtful of them! read more

Absolutely diabolical. Never have I ever had such hassle setting up a service. Shell are undoubtedly the worst Broadband provider the planet has to offer.

The router arrived over a week late, The service which I was informed was live didnt even work when the router did arrive. Upon trying to close my contract before the first bill even came through, they’re attempting to charge me the closing fee of £308 despite the fact that I havent even been able to use the service through no fault of my own. Truly despicable, absolutely useless. If you have the option between Shell and no broadband, youd be better off with no internet. read more

Shell’s Generous Gesture: Paying Mere $10 Million for Air Violations and Restarting Plant Production

We can all sleep soundly knowing that Shell will continue to pollute our air and water, while the authorities turn a blind eye, and the community basks in the glory of their unwavering benevolence.

Posting by John Donovan 24 May 2023

In a stunning display of benevolence, Shell Chemicals Appalachia, LLC has agreed to part ways with a whopping $10 million as a token of their appreciation for repeatedly violating air pollution regulations.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) and the Shapiro administration have graciously accepted this gesture, marking their first feeble attempt at enforcement since the plant came online in November 2022. But fear not, residents, because Shell, in their infinite wisdom, has decided to resume operations without bothering to notify you in advance, just as they promised in that quaint virtual meeting back in April. read more

Complete disgrace. After offering you 6 months ‘free’ broadband, they then decide to charge you and threaten to ruin your credit rating if you dont pay up. Terrible way to treat your now ex loyal energy customers. Of course I will now be switching energy companies. The bunch of scammers wont get anything from me for the ‘free’ broadband. They then called me yesterday and didnt even answer the phone for some random reason. Passive aggressive behaviour. i contacted Ofgem and asked for a deadlock letter from Shell. Don’t let these people push you around. read more

Shell prefers to ignore such trivial matters as the future of our planet

Posted 24 May 2023 by John Donovan

The activists stormed the meeting, shouting “Shut down Shell” as if their pleas for environmental responsibility could penetrate the thick walls of corporate greed.

Shell miraculously survives yet another feeble revolt from shareholders concerned about its “green strategy” and decides to continue its legacy of environmental destruction. As if that wasn’t enough, climate change protesters daringly stormed Shell’s annual meeting, disturbing the tranquil gathering of oil enthusiasts. read more

SHUT DOWN SHELL

Posted by John Donovan

The 2023 Shell Plc AGM has been disrupted by repeated interventions by a succession of activists all repeating the refrain “SHUT DOWN SHELL”.

Shell chair Sir Andrew Mackenzie appears to be  fighting a losing battle to move on with the meeting…

Shell Chairman Andrew Mackenzie struggled to kick off the energy behemoth’s annual general shareholder meeting on Tuesday, thanks to those pesky climate activists who just couldn’t resist making a scene. They sang, they shouted, and they were eventually dragged away one by one by security personnel. Ah, such fond memories of last year’s meeting, which was also marred by these annoying interruptions, causing a delightful three-hour delay. read more

OIL MAFIA SAGA: HOLLAND AND UNCLE SAM SHOULD KICKSTART THE “WHODUNNIT” DRAMA ON ENI AND SHELL’S OPL245 GAME IN NIGERIA

OIL MAFIA SAGA: HOLLAND AND UNCLE SAM SHOULD KICKSTART THE “WHODUNNIT” DRAMA ON ENI AND SHELL’S OPL245 GAME IN NIGERIA

Transparency International and its chapters in the Netherlands and the US are pleading with authorities in the two countries to revive the great soap opera involving Eni and Shell, the alleged Godfathers of bribery in Nigeria.

Our darling oil titans are accused of generously gifting over a cool US$1 billion in bribes to the chums of then-president Goodluck Jonathan. All for a trivial piece of paper – rights to the OPL245 offshore oilfield. This is recognized as an absolute party for the people of Nigeria. Because, of course, nothing says prosperity like environmental devastation and corruption. Obviously, the US and the Netherlands launched investigations but had to slam the brakes due to some Italian courtroom drama. read more

Dealing with Shell Energy customer service is something akin to torture

Dealing with their customer service is something akin to torture with endless recorded messages and options before you end up speaking to a person. They then end up transferring you from one person to another…

If I could give their customer service a negative rating a would.

As a previous post office customer, I decided to upgrade to a full fiber package in early January 2023- I was repeatedly given different installation dates. Finally on the 21 March I was given a confirmed date for the Openreach engineer to arrive. Suffice to say nobody arrived on the agreed date. Subsequently 2 more engineer visits resulted in a line being installed-but still no internet service. As of the 24th of April(more than 3 months) they managed to achieve nothing. read more

Shell Energy customer service staff rude and unhelpful

21 May 2023

Do not use shell broadband & phone

Do not take out this for your broadband & phone as they do not tell you when your contract runs out & do not care that when your in hospital for 4 weeks & cannot use their services they still want full payment even though you contact them

DO NOT USE SHELL ENERGY

I would give these guys negative stars if possible. Whatever you do, DO NOT get them to change your meter to a smart meter. The initial meter they installed was dodgy (kept resulting in power cuts and damaged numerous devices in my house). It then took them 6 months for an appointment to install a new meter. And throughout this time my father had pulmonary fibrosis so had an oxygen concentrator connected to the mains so any power cuts in the night could have been life threatening. read more

Shell faces shareholder revolt over their laughably ‘inadequate’ climate change goals

Posted by John Donovan: 20 May 2023

Shell is bracing itself for an agonizing annual meeting next week, where it will attempt to juggle the demands for profits with the bothersome calls to address the climate crisis more forcefully.

Shell, that paragon of environmental stewardship, has drawn criticism for its outrageous earnings “bonanza” resulting from the skyrocketing oil and gas prices following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.  read more

Shell demanding its slice of the green profit pie

Posted by John Donovan 19 May 2023

Shell’s commitment to greed and token environmentalism is truly awe-inspiring demanding its slice of the green profit pie

Wow, brace yourselves, folks! The altruistic geniuses at Shell have decided that it’s not enough to spew toxic pollutants and devastate the environment for decades. No, no, they want to make a profit from green energy too! How noble of them!

According to sources, Shell executives gathered in a town hall meeting to enlighten their renewable power team with this groundbreaking revelation. They have realized that simply pretending to care about carbon emissions and dabbling in clean energy isn’t cutting it anymore. They want results! I mean, who needs clean air and a habitable planet when you can have more money lining your pockets, right? read more

Shell, the paragon of corporate responsibility, finds itself in the midst of an investor rebellion

Shell, the paragon of corporate responsibility, finds itself in the midst of an investor rebellion because of baseless claims that it is scaling back its bold plans to achieve net zero targets.

The noble Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), Britain’s preeminent private pension fund, has vowed to vote against the re-election of the illustrious Sir Andrew Mackenzie as chairman. Why, you may ask? Well, apparently the audacious accusation is that Shell is not doing enough to reduce its carbon footprint. How dare they besmirch Shell’s good name? read more

More suspense at Shell’s Beaver County Cracker Plant

Let us rejoice in the glory of Shell’s magnanimous actions, for they are fixing the mess they created…

Oh, joyous news! Shell’s Beaver County Cracker Plant, the epitome of environmental responsibility, will be gracing us with its presence in “shutdown mode” for a few more weeks. Isn’t it delightful to see such a caring and compassionate corporation taking the time to address its countless issues?

Since its grand opening in November 2022, this model of excellence has managed to accumulate numerous citations from state regulators. Bravo, Shell! You’ve truly outdone yourselves in polluting and disregarding the well-being of our planet. read more

Shell’s “Climate-Friendly” Strategy Under Fire: ClientEarth’s Claim to Proceed, Because Who Cares About the Planet?

Shell’s “Climate-Friendly” Strategy Under Fire: ClientEarth’s Claim to Proceed, Because Who Cares About the Planet?

In a stunning display of corporate accountability, ClientEarth has been granted an oral hearing to pursue its derivative action claim against Shell, the notorious polluting giant. It seems like the courts are willing to entertain the idea that Shell might actually be responsible for something other than destroying the environment.

To the dismay of those seeking justice, the High Court of England and Wales initially denied permission for the lawsuit. But fear not! An oral hearing has been generously bestowed upon us, where ClientEarth will have the audacity to ask the judge to reconsider his decision. How noble of them! read more
