E-Scooter to be first Shell e-mobility product sold in North America

CANTON, Michigan – Shell energy will sell e-scooters in North America, according to its U.S.-based partner.

The Shell RIDE SR-5S e-scooter is to be manufactured and distributed by Lotus International Company of Canton, Michigan, as the scooter becomes the first Shell e-mobility product available in North America.

“The Shell RIDE e-scooter is a fun, reliable, and a low-emission personal transportation method for life’s short journeys; whether it’s your ride to work or school, a spin in the park, or exploring a new city,” said Darren S. Ivey, Director of Sales and Marketing at Lotus International.

Officials noted that in the U.S., 46 percent of journeys are made by cars travelling less than three miles. Electric scooters are seen as providing a simple-to-use, lower-carbon solution for these journeys.

With a suggested price of $769, the Shell RIDE SR-5S e-scooter is currently accepting pre-orders in the U.S. on Amazon.com, and will also be available at QVC, Walmart.com, as well as other retailers in Canada and Mexico in the coming months.
