Shell has signed an agreement with Irish marine renewables developer Simply Blue Energy to acquire a 51 per cent share in a floating wind farm to be built off the south coast.
The joint venture will produce up to 1 gigawatt of power when fully operational – equivalent to Ireland’s largest generating station at Moneypoint in Co Clare, and capable of powering 800,000 homes.
“This partnership combines the floating wind track record and local knowledge of Simply Blue Energy with Shell’s offshore experience, floating wind expertise and ability to develop large complex projects,” Simply Blue chief executive Sam Roch-Perks said.read more

Shell to acquire UK’s largest electric vehicle charging network

(Reuters) – Royal Dutch Shell said on Monday it was acquiring the owner of the UK’s largest public electric vehicle charging network, ubitricity, for an undisclosed amount.
The deal for the company that has over 2,700 on-street charge points in the country is expected to be completed late this year.
Electric vehicle sales are set to continue to soar in 2021, industry analysts and car distributors have said, as more models are brought to the market and governments push for use of cleaner energy to achieve climate goals.read more

Hydrogen will be the key energy source for global road freight, according to a new report commissioned by European oil major Shell.
The study, carried out by global accountancy firm Deloitte on Shell’s behalf, questioned 158 executives in the road freight sector in 22 different countries.
“We believe that once produced at scale, hydrogen will likely be the more cost-effective and viable pathway to net-zero emissions for heavy-duty and long-route medium-duty vehicles, and electric mobility will do the same for light-duty and short-route medium-duty vehicles,” Carlos Maurer, EVP of sectors and decarbonization at Shell, said in a statement. “Shell has already begun taking steps to make these energy solutions available to customers, and we are partnering with others to expand these efforts.”read more

Shell to install Dutch solar park (30 MW) by November
HERMAN MOESTUE: Oslo: 19 Jan 2021 15:52 CET(Montel) Anglo-Dutch energy giant Royal Dutch Shell plans to begin construction of its 30 MW Sas van Gent-Zuid solar park in southern Netherlands in March, with completion due in November, it said on Tuesday.
The solar installation in the province of Zeerland would be erected on a former industrial site, which is “one of the sunniest places” in the country, the firm added. read more

Shell Energy Adds 3 Months Bill Credit on Broadband Plans

Energy provider and UK ISP Shell Energy is giving away three months of bill credit (worth up to £134.97) on their top “Superfast Fibre” (FTTC) and “Ultrafast Fibre” (G.fast) home broadband and phone packages, which will be available to take by new customers until 8th February 2021.
As usual Shell’s Openreach based broadband packages all include a wireless router, 18-month minimum contract term, free activation, unlimited usage and copper line rental with standard call rates (PAYG). But if you need a new line installed then that will attract a one-off fee of £60.read more

The Israeli startup H2Pro, which focuses on generating oxygen while also reducing expenses and emissions, has won Shell’s New Energy Challenge competition, according to a report by Israel 21c on Sunday.
Among five finalists in the competition, the startup was both the only one from Israel and the newest of the finalists.The award was given to H2Pro on the basis of its E-TAC system, which creates hydrogen and oxygen by “splitting” water molecules into their ingredient particles.read more
