Shell and Eneco’s offshore wind farm to include floating solar and hydrogen production

A consortium made up of Shell and Eneco is to develop an offshore wind farm that will incorporate a range of “technology demonstrations” including floating solar and hydrogen produced by electrolysis.

The 759 megawatt (MW) Hollandse Kust (noord) facility will be subsidy free and able to produce at least 3.3 terawatt hours annually, according to Eneco, a Rotterdam-headquartered firm whose shareholders are the Mitsubishi Corporation and Chubu Electric Power Co. The project will use 69 turbines from Siemens Gamesa, which will have a capacity of 11 MW each. read more

Shell to Test Floating Solar, Hydrogen Generation at New Wind Farm

The Royal Dutch Shell-led CrossWind consortium has won the lease rights to develop a novel offshore wind farm in the Dutch sector of the North Sea. The 760 megawatt farm will use about 70 giant Siemens Gamesa turbines, but it also incorporates five unusual energy demonstrator projects.

According to Shell and co-developer Eneco, the site will include a floating solar park; short-term battery storage; turbines tuned to minimize the “wake effect” that each turbine has on the units behind it; and renewable hydrogen via electrolysis. The consortium hopes that some combination of these measures will help to even out the supply of power when the wind is low. read more

Threatening me when I’m not a customer

Moved to a house that was unfortunately running on gas and electric by shell energy. Informed them I was switching to a new company and gave them my meter readings. I am still (despite 4 phone calls) being hassled for money from when I didn’t own the house? How is a company this large so thick? What do you not understand about me not living in the company before my dates given to you. They are useless, communication is none existent, and their customer service team is awful. Will never ever use this company and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. read more

Shell-led consortium to build 750 MW Dutch offshore wind farm

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – A consortium led by Royal Dutch Shell has won a zero-subsidy tender to build a 750 megawatt (MW) wind farm in the North Sea off the coast of the Netherlands, the country’s economic affairs ministry said on Wednesday.

The consortium, which also includes Mitsubishi-owned energy company Eneco, will build the Hollandse Kust – Noord project, the ministry said in a statement. The auction was the latest in a series as the Netherlands seeks to reach 3,500 MW of offshore wind power by 2023. read more

AVOID Shell Energy broadband

AVOID! Shell energy broadband failed to transfer my landline number (which I have had for 18 years) and then tell me it is ‘lost’ and cannot ever be recovered. Terrible communication and really long periods on hold to customer service. AVOID

Shell Energy are soulless bullies.

Shell Energy have recently taken over supply of my property and seemingly created a £2k+ bill that my previous supplier didn’t seem to feel the need to try and charge me, in the 5 years I was living at the property.
They instructed debt collectors, despite me actually paying them not only my monthly amount but more on top. I am having to escalate my grievance with them to the highest level before “the computer stopped saying No” – Although it is still trying to. read more

Terrible

Terrible, unable to contact for months. Emailed, called. When things go wrong their customer service staff are so badly trained they don’t know what to do. One guy couldn’t do basic maths. Do not use. Gone down hill since the Shell acquisition.

Horrendous

Horrendous. After money which I have already paid. Said I’d had a refund but it was a mistake. WHO MADE THE MISTAKE. Certainly not me. I have paid. Any refund I received I thought was due to an overpayment. Left the company 16 months ago. Computer mistake. NO. The computer is only as good as the person who inputs the information. has that person been reprimanded? This is causing me a lot of stress which I can do without. It is bad enough having patients I have been caring for dying from Covid most weeks without this insensitive company causing me more stress. Is it worth go on with all the stress being caused to me? Shell’s EV charging arm signs partnership deal with Mazda

Shell’s electric vehicle (EV) charging arm NewMotion has agreed a partnership with Mazda.

The deal means Mazda MX-30 owners will be offered a NewMotion home charge point and can access its UK public network of 2,500 charge points. NewMotion will also deliver electric vehicle (EV) charge points at UK Mazda dealerships.

Commenting on the partnership, Mazda Motors UK managing director Jeremy Thomson said: “We chose to partner with NewMotion due to its pioneering development of smart charging solutions over the past 10 years. The company’s charge points are online connected, meaning they can receive regular updates to ensure a Mazda MX-30 owner’s charging hardware is always up to date and working perfectly. This also enables remote start and stop of charging sessions via the MyMazda app and will give our Mazda MX-30 owners a fully integrated and interactive home charging solution.” read more

Shell Energy has launched a new Solar Storage tariff as part of its partnership with German battery manufacturer sonnen.

Customers with solar panels installed on their homes will be able to earn solar credits in the summer, when they are generating excess power that can be exported to the grid. These credits can then be used come winter to save money on bills.

What an absolute nightmare of a…

What an absolute nightmare of a company, they overcharged me by 200 percent and when I closed the services they quoted that the initial estimate was done by the previous supplier (first utility) and that I had no choice but to pay them, I then went to the Ombudsman Services who totally disregarded the facts.
in my opinion the Ombudsman Services must have links to shell energy as I was treated with the same disregard. this is my opinion and truthfully. anyone with any common sense would stay well clear of these companies read more

Terrible service from 0330 094 5800 – please help

I’ve tried to contact Shell on 0330 094 5800 twice. Yesterday, it was a terrible line with a long pause each time I spoke, then myself and the customer service assistant would both speak together. This went on for 15 minutes then the line went dead. Issue obviously not resolved.

I decided to try again today. This time I spoke to a customer service assistant who put me on hold for 23 minutes without getting back to me, then the line went dead again.

The issue is still not resolved. PLEASE can someone at Shell help? read more

Worst company I’ve ever dealt with

Worst company I’ve ever dealt with.
Where do I start. Dd jump from £67pm to £213 pm. Can’t get through to anyone on phone. Mistakes made by phone operators or they don’t update my account and the next person has no idea I already spoke to someone
Every time I submit a reading on my day and night box shell swap them so they are wrong.
Took £400 out of my account without telling me and then when I rang they said they had no record of it. I had to get the bank to put it back in. Shell said they’d look into it and never did.
Have opened complaint case with resolver and a year later I still haven’t had an explanation or apology and they say I now owe £1700 because of a dummy meter exchange. I have no idea what that means.
Weeks ago I was supposed to be getting a form to work out my budget for replaying and I am still waiting.

Martin Lewis has urged homeowners to consider switching their broadband provider.

The 48-year-old made the warning in his latest email to Money Saving Expert subscribers, in which he outlines cost-cutting measures for the week that could save you hundreds!

He explained that “a huge nine million households out of contract” with some likely “paying a rip-off” fee of over £50 a month for the slowest broadband speeds.
