Shell Energy apologises to a distressed terrorised pensioner

Ombudsman Final Decision dated 24 February 2020

We’ve set out below the list of remedies set by the Ombudsman and the status of each. If there’s any outstanding matters left to address. I’ve confirmed when you’ll expect your next update and/or resolution.

The Ombudsman decided that Shell Energy should:

  • Provide you with a goodwill payment of £200 in recognition of the shortfalls in service you have experienced this will be credited to the account within 10 working days.
  • Credit your account with £820.79 in recognition of overcharging you for 4399kWh of electricity rather than re-billing your account and re-applying SLC 21BA as proposed by Shell Energy. This has been completed by correcting the inial read on the account 61750.
  • The remaining balance on the account after the £200 gesture of goodwill has been applied will be £1199.50

Reuters: Shell and Gasunie plan to build massive Dutch green hydrogen plant

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – Oil and gas company Royal Dutch Shell and Dutch gas company Gasunie [GSUNI.UL] plan to build a massive green hydrogen plant in the northern Netherlands in the next decade, the companies said on Thursday, to cut emissions.

Fueled by a large new wind farm off the coast of Groningen province, the plant would ultimately be able to produce 800,000 tonnes of hydrogen by 2040, the companies said, cutting the Netherlands’ CO2 emissions by about 7 megaton per year. read more

DutchNews.nl: Shell, Gasunie and Groningen join forces for mega wind and hydrogen plant

Oil giant Shell, gas group Gasunie and Groningen’s port authority are joining forces to build a massive offshore wind farm and hydrogen plant in the northern province, Dutch media reported on Thursday.

The plan, dubbed NortH2, will be formally presented on Thursday afternoon but will, the companies say, be one of the ‘biggest renewable energy projects in the world’.

The project is still at the planning stage and definitive investment decisions still have to be taken. read more
